Why Do Democrats Want to Raise American Citizen's Taxes, While They Avoid Paying Theirs?
Lawyers for Mr. Rangel have said that sloppy bookkeeping led him to file incomplete or inaccurate financial disclosure forms.

do as I say, not as I do

Well I know the IRS would be TOTALLY understanding if I, John Q. Public, gave that as my excuse for the same 'mistakes.'
Come on people. Let's at least have a little bit of intellectual honesty here, OK? If this was a Republican in the same situation, those of you that want some kind of deference or leniency given to Mr. Rangel would be calling for blood, resignation, charges or all three to be leveled against the Republican. You'd be ascribing the worst possible motives to his/her actions and claiming that this was yet another example of Republicans taking advantage of the system and or you'd be crying 'HYPOCRISY!' by yet another corrupt Republican who says one thing about what's right and wrong and yet does the very opposite. Wow, that seems to describe Mr. Rangel's actions to a tee. Imagine that.
As for the government spending our taxes wisely on programs, if life has taught anyone anything (assuming you're at least 30 and have lived it a bit) it should have taught you that almost no one is going to spend your money as wisely as you. There is little debate that much (not all!) of what the government does or at least intends to do is worthy of consideration, but they, being the HUGE bureaucracy that they are, have a HORRIBLE track record for waste and even corruption when handling the money. I want to help people, but let me choose how I help them.
And here's a 'generalization' I'm sure some will hate, but you know it's true. One big difference between liberals and conservatives is their trust in 'the government' to do what is right. Liberals are FAR more altruistic in their 'faith' in the government to do what is best for the masses. Conservatives are far more likely to put their faith in the individual to make those choices.
So some of you don't like generalizations? Seems many of you have no problem making them when describing and characterizing conservative views and beliefs. Let's at least be honest about that. Generalizations DEFINITELY have their place and their value in discussing issues. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater because you don't like some of them.
Democrats don't want to raise taxes. We just want them better spent on things that will make this country better, both now and in the future. And, we do pay taxes. There are, of course, always exceptions. Are you saying Republicans ALWAYS pay their taxes, too – there's not a SINGLE Republican cheat out there? Come on. Be smarter than that. Generalizations are just never a good idea.
It was Republicans who wrote the expiration date for the tax cuts to the bill they passed when Bush was in office and Repubs. had the control of both house and the senate. Now they are floating this lie about Dems. want to raise taxes in this election season and you FOX News watching sheeple fall for it.
It is an attitude of superiority.
There is the ruling class, common ideology in the Progressive Movement aka Marxist Community, and the Proletariat .
The Ruling Class tells the Proletariat what to do because they know what is best for the poor uneducated, unworldly peasants.
Raise taxes on wealthy Americans? Yes.
Middle class Americans getting tax decreases.
Rangel being investigated and probably punished by a Democrat controlled Congress and, who knows, maybe the IRS gets involved at some point.
Seems like the system works.
Liberal voters avoid any contact with reality.
Liberal Politicians utilize that fact to their advantage every election cycle.
They have little desire to be honest upright citizens since their voters will buy anything they try to sell them.
Love that kool-aid.
No one is raising taxes for most Americans. Democrats want only tax cuts for top 2% to expire. If Rangel broke the rules, let him be punished.

Another non sequitur. Taxes are not being raised. The so-called Bush tax cut are being permitted to expire.
Notice that it's a Democratic Congress that's prosecuting Rangel.
