1. Why ?
One reason only : Job security ! When time is good, you need an accountant. When time sucks, you need an accountant even more.
2. Interesting ?
Ye, it is getting boring over time, but it's certainly not the most boring job in the world. Don't believe in that stereotypes. If you like strategy and stuff, go for finance. And also finance department is always more laid back then accounting. But then finance doesn't have job security factors. Finance people are always to be let go first in a bad economy.
