I want to move up in the accounting world and work at a big firm (regional or even Big 4). However, my resume seems to get skipped instantly because I don't have an actual bachelor's in accounting or business.
How should I proceed with this? Should I go for a master's? Should I try to do a post-undergraduate program and get a bachelor's? Or am I SOL?
Thank you for your help.
Suggestion:
Network. Build genuine relationships with people at big four firms. Some are desperate to hire; they may support your education. Seek alumni from your school … friends of friends. Buy them lunch, coffee, etc. Be really nice and giving. Ask them for advice.
When you finally establish a relationship with someone, it's easier to ask them to assist you. Frankly, no matter how a company is structured, having someone internally hand your resume to someone else internally is never a bad thing.
